Welcome to SpeechReader ("we", "our", or "us"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the SpeechReader website, applications, and services (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use SpeechReader.

1. Overview

SpeechReader is an online text-to-speech tool that allows users to convert written text into audio using advanced AI voices. The Service offers both free and paid subscription plans.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old (or have the consent of a parent or guardian) to use the Service. By using SpeechReader, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

3. Account and Access

To access certain features, you may need to create an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials
  • Notify us promptly of any unauthorized access

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Subscriptions and Payments

SpeechReader offers both free and paid plans. Paid plans are billed through Polar, our secure payment processor. Some existing subscribers may still be billed through Stripe, our previous payment processor.

  • Billing cycle: Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or yearly).
  • Pricing: Prices are listed on our website and may change from time to time.
  • Taxes: All prices include applicable taxes (e.g., VAT) where required.

By subscribing, you authorize recurring payments through your applicable payment processor (Polar or Stripe) until you cancel.

5. Cancellation and Termination

You can cancel your subscription at any time:

  • Through your account settings or customer portal (link available in your account)
  • Or by contacting us at info@speechreader.io

Cancellations are processed immediately and confirmed by email. You will continue to have access to paid features until the end of your current billing period. There are no cancellation fees.

SpeechReader may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or misuse the Service.

6. Refund Policy

SpeechReader does not offer refunds for unused time or partial billing periods. In exceptional cases (such as accidental double charges), please contact us at info@speechreader.io and we'll review your request individually.

7. Use of the Service

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for illegal or harmful purposes
  • Upload or input content that infringes on others' rights
  • Attempt to bypass rate limits or abuse the Service

Generated audio is provided for personal, non-commercial use unless otherwise stated. You retain ownership of your original text content, but you grant SpeechReader a limited license to process and convert it to audio for the purpose of providing the Service.

8. Intellectual Property

All rights, title, and interest in the SpeechReader platform, including design, software, and branding, remain the property of SpeechReader. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the Service without permission.

9. Service Availability

We strive to keep SpeechReader online and functional at all times, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. We may update, modify, or discontinue parts of the Service at any time without notice.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

SpeechReader is provided "as is" and "as available." We make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, regarding accuracy, reliability, or fitness for a particular purpose.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, SpeechReader shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid (if any) in the 12 months preceding the claim.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we'll post a notice on our website or notify you by email. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the revised Terms.
